Japanese outdoor brand Goldwin and environmental design studio Space Available have joined forces to open a pop-up exhibition, titled REWORK Tokyo Design Centre, through June and July. Situated on a main shopping street in Tokyo’s Chiyoda district, the space will operate as a “living workshop” spotlighting state-of-the-art waste-led design solutions, with a particular focus on recycling waste plastics and upcycling textiles into contemporary objects.

Over the course of two months, Goldwin and Space Available will utilize the gallery as a venue for workshops and panels aiming to “foster creativity and awareness around circular design practices.” The lineup will include events led by myriad artists and multidisciplinary creatives, including Greater Goods, Space Available founder Daniel Mitchell and more.

The programming will kick off with a talk led by Mitchell and the Goldwin team. The group will discuss today’s circular design economy and how waste can be reduced through recycled and upcycled designs. Later on, the exhibition will close with a workshop produced in collaboration with Greater Goods, which will offer a hands-on look at the power of upcycling.

Outside of panels and classes, the design centre will house a curation of recycled plastic objects and collaborative apparel. Notably, the co-branded clothing collection, which is exclusively available to shop at the exhibition, is made entirely from upcycled materials and recycled plastic hardware.

Goldwin and Space Available’s REWORK Tokyo Design Centre will be open to the public from June 6 to July 31. Take a look inside the space in the gallery above.
