Stüssy has reunited with Artisan Project, a collective of craftspeople led by Palestinian-American textile maker Nina Mohammed, for a second range of boucherouite rugs.

For the collaboration, Mohammed took inspiration from “ancestral rugs, art, vintage graphics and the beauty of nature – capturing aerial landscapes, bodies of water, and the intricacies of flora.” The designer pulled upcycled Stüssy T-shirts and wool from the Atlas Mountains to create the line’s rugs, which were woven by the Ain Leuh Women’s Cooperative in Morocco with ancient cultural techniques.

The textural range features organic, colorful designs, with all sorts of patterns that operate on a formulaic grid. “Each one has a distinctive essence that transcends time and tradition,” Stüssy stated.

“A handful of t-shirts become ripped through the manufacturing process, stained, or marked with some other error, leaving them unable to be sold,” the brand added. “An accumulation like this for decades creates a mass of passive fabric. This project tries to resolve this stagnancy, working through manufacturer imperfections and material stand-stills, circulating an ecosystem of fabric.”

The second line of Boucherouite T-shirt Rugs is now available to shop online and in select chapter stores across North America, the UK, Europe, Japan and Korea. Take a look at the lineup in the gallery above.
