German luxury luggage brand RIMOWA is at the top of its field. While becoming synonymous with titanium bags and utilitarian styling, RIMOWA is championing its local creative community, hosting its second Design Prize ceremony for 2024.

Holding its latest edition in Berlin’s James Simon Gallery, RIMOWA selected a handful of design finalists from top-ranking German universities, providing one-to-one mentorship led by industry experts.

The Design Prize judges included Chief Executive Officer Hugues Bonnet-Masimbert and RIMOWA Chairman Alexandre Arnault, who awarded the seven finalists on-stage.

Anhalt University student Janne Kreimer won gold for her innovative outerwear design, which promotes exposure therapy to treat anxiety. Second place winner Daniela Lindenberga of SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences was awarded €10,000 EUR for her wearable safety device with integrated tools to protect yourself in unexpected situations.

Dominic Hahn and Franziska Dehm from Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Design, Fengfan Yang from State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart, Luise Kempf and Dean Weigand from Saar College of Fine Arts, and Pascal Schwientek and Jasmin Kappler from Potsdam University of Applied Sciences were also honored throughout the ceremony. The RIMOWA Design Prize granted the winner €20,000 EUR while additional artists took home €5,000 EUR.
