Burberry's Signature Trench Coats Are Primed for Summer 2024
Governed by Daniel Lee, the summer line also includes crystal-covered fruit tops, bubble sneakers and more.
There are only a few brands that can get away with making trench coats for summer, and Burberry is certainly one of them. Led by Daniel Lee, the London heritage house has just dropped off its latest batch of warm-weather wares, including, yes, summertime trenches.
The classic Burberry silhouette is done up in several textiles, including a changeant cotton twill inspired by those from the 1940s, which were woven with contrasting yarns to produce an iridescent glow. Elsewhere, the flagship trench coat employs a shower-resistant gabardine, for protection from the British capital’s notorious rainy weather. In either case, the coat is lined with Burberry’s traditional Check pattern.
The brand’s T-shirts and tank tops are decorated with crystal-covered summer fruits, while free-flowing tops and shorts adopt illustrations galvanized by Burberry’s accessories, like the “b” closure and the Horse clasp. Polo shirts and skirts and fuel the label’s preppy identity, while lightweight wool scarves, emblazoned with similar jewelry-inspired prints, remind onlookers of Lee’s playfulness.
In footwear, Burberry puts forth the Box sneakers, which are made with smooth calf leather with mesh lining and a debossed Equestrian Knight motif. Rounding out the lineup are the Bubble sneakers, which are moulded with flexible EVA in the same shape as the Box silhouette, and heeled leather Bay sandals.
