Marc Jacobs Taps Anna Sui for 40th-Anniversary Capsule
Featuring a co-branded varsity jacket and an illustrative Snapshot Bag.

In February, Marc Jacobs announced a full slate of collaborations to celebrate his namesake label’s 40th anniversary. Among them, the likes of Pharrell Williams, Tremaine Emory and Anna Sui were tasked with reimagining their favorite piece from the brand’s expansive archive, with a rollout expected to take place across the year. On Tuesday, Sui, a longtime friend of Jacobs, revealed her commemorative take on the New York fashioner’s signatures: a co-branded varsity jacket and a “Miss and Mister Marc” Snapshot Bag.
On a green, purple, black and white color palette, the varsity jacket features “M” and “A” block letters, as well as cursive embroidery of both designers’ names. The word “perfect” appears across the bottom of the torso, while purple-lined star patches command the left arm, and “84” branding nods to Jacob’s founding year.
The Snapsphot Bag, meanwhile, references the duo’s first collaboration in 2018, which included a selection of T-shirts, sneakers and keychains donning the aforementioned “Miss and Mister Marc” drawings by Will Broome. Here, the cartoon designers appear on the front of Jacobs’ famed Snapshot Bag, which also features star patches and name branding.
After first meeting in the ’90s, Jacobs and Sui have maintained a friendship over the last several decades. “The first time Marc and I got to know each other and hung out was when I did my first show, and WWD interviewed us together,” Sui said in a release. “There were two other designers there, but somehow Marc and I really bonded.” Since then, the two have attended each other’s fashion shows and joined forces for collaborations, like last year’s Heaven capsule, on several occassions.
