Five Iron Golf Marks Expansion With Flagship NYC Location
Sparked by a new $20 million investment.
Indoor golf may not be new, but it’s definitely blown up over the last five years or so. Similar to Topgolf, it gives people without easy access to a golf course a chance to interact with the game in a more low stakes environment. And stateside, no company has become as synonymous with simulator golf as Five Iron Golf.
A franchise that started as a single location in midtown Manhattan, Five Iron Golf has now grown to include 24 locations across 13 cities and four countries. But the company’s latest Grand Central location is being called its flagship, and it’s easy to see why. The 16,390 square foot space includes a total of 15 simulators with the latest TrackMan technology and two full-service bars. Beyond golf, there’s even air hockey, pool and shuffleboard tables.
Nothing will ever quite match the wonderment of walking into an arcade as a child, but Five Iron Golf Grand Central comes close. On Tuesday night the location celebrated its opening with an exclusive party attended by an eclectic mix of former New York Giants Victor Cruz and Tiki Barber, SNL’s Colin Jost, former number 1 golfer in the world Luke Donald and others. Various local food vendors filled each and every corner of the space, as giant cookies were laid out like boxes of Titleists and chicken and waffle bites spun on vinyl records. The aforementioned celebrities duked it out together in a bracket style tournament, and at the end of the night when Colin Jost was announced as the winner over Luke Donald, attendees may have wondered if they had too much to drink.

For Five Iron golf though, the real reason for celebration was a new $20 million USD investment from Enlightened Hospitality Investments (EHI). One of EHI’s co-founders Danny Meyer established himself as the founder of Union Square Hospitality Group which owns and operates celebrated restaurants like Gramercy Tavern and Union Square Cafe, so it’s no surprise that the food selection at Five Iron Grand Central’s unveiling was so spot on.
Meyer affirmed his belief in the brand’s mission, saying “This investment is a testament to our belief in Five Iron’s vision and commitment to opening the world of golf both to enthusiasts and avid amateurs who want to practice their inner love for golf without having to visit the links.”
Nora Duncan, a co-founder of Five Iron, continued: “The investment from EHI propels us into an era of growth and innovation. Positioned in the heart of midtown, our flagship promises an exceptional experience for golf enthusiasts, corporate entertainment, and an unparalleled sports bar.” The new Grand Central location’s address is 101 Park Avenue, Floor 3, New York, NY 10017.
