Hypebeast Visits: Ouigi Theodore Shows Us His Jack Daniel's Tennessee Apple Classic Remix Capsule
Theodore takes us inside The Brooklyn Circus store to share stories and tells us how the Season 4 collection came about.
Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple Classic Remix fosters the vision of independent designers making their own, unique mark on the industry. In its fourth season, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple Classic Remix brought back Ouigi Theodore, designer, founder, and creative director of the iconic New York brand, The Brooklyn Circus. Theodore, who was one of Classic Remix’s inaugural designers, has pulled out all the stops in creating the program’s most aesthetic collection yet. In a Visits session with Hypebeast, Theodore opened the doors to The BKc and gave us a rundown on some of the inspirations behind Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple Classic Remix’s year four capsule.
Inside the store, Theodore quickly points out the collection’s highlight piece, The BKc Varsity Jacket. Season 1’s design was so popular that it sold out in just minutes. Bringing back the piece in a new elevated style for Season 4 was a must. “The colors and energy that we put into this jacket has its own character and identity and I’m really excited about that,” Theodore said. “One of the details that I’m really proud of is this direct embroidery on a naked cow, because the embroidery on leather is always tricky, but it came out really well and came out beautiful.”
The Season 4 Classic Remix capsule also includes a cardigan and a hat, which Theodore points out as an important component in the range. “This is an important hat for us because it’s very unstructured,” Theodore explained. “It’s sort of a classic old school, ‘40s, ‘50s baseball cap. And we’re talking about Classic Remix. This is a remix of an old shape.”
The Classic Remix Season 4 collection was inspired by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple. Theodore gladly took the challenge once more to define that interpretation for the new season. “The Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple Classic Remix Collection is our use of the bottle as the source of inspiration for us,” Theodore said. “The focus was on the tones and the beauty of liquid in the packaging itself and bringing that into the products.”
The Brooklyn Circus is more than just a brand or storefront, it’s a community hub where creatives can authentically connect, whether for collaborative projects or to just chat about similar interests. Authenticity, community and heritage are at the heart of The BKcC and they’re crucial elements that both Theodore and Jack Apple share. “I was excited to work with Jack Daniel’s because it’s a heritage brand and we are always excited to interpret those things through our lens,” Theodore said.
“If you’re not thinking community, then what are you thinking?,” Theodore added. “Community is humans first. I’ve built The Brooklyn Circus on the idea of humans first – stories, histories. It’s not a marketing ploy. It’s the reality that we built this brand for people and with people in mind first.”
