A new day is dawning at Blumarine. Last November, it was announced that Walter Chiapponi would follow behind Nicola Brognano as Blumarine’s new creative director. In an age where the creative director door is revolving more than ever, supporters of the brand have been waiting to see where previous Tod’s designer would take the Y2K-leaning Italian label. Well, now the first inkling of that direction has come with Blumarine’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection which marks Chiapponi’s debut collection for the brand.

As Chiapponi moves into the Blumarine world, his method is taking an easygoing approach to keeping the brand’s identity alive. Its core romantic and feminine aesthetics are still felt in the collection’s usage of soft colors, textures and silhouettes. For example, a coordinating pink set arrives in a soft knit and is complimented with a fuzzy ball collar alongside select floral print garments.

But with the new creative director, the brand’s Y2K stylings meet an evolved cadence with more refined cuts. A fuzzy yellow long-sleeve tube dress paired with cheetah print leggings and sea blue pumps, a white 3d floral dress or a shimmery blue romper reveal this elevation. Throughout the collection, the designers presented a tame taste of color, prints and texture – not afraid to bring an updated take to the world of Blumarine’s Y2K core.

Take a look at the collection in the gallery above and stay tuned to Hypebeast’s coverage of Milan Fashion Week.
