Nanga and Original Duckhead Get "Down" with Playful Umbrella Collaboration
Simultaneously nodding to OD’s famed umbrella decor and Nanga’s signature down-fill insulation.
Nanga has been on quite the collaborative streak in 2024, teaming up with everyone from HAVEN to fragment design, Engineered Garments, 18 East and more. Now, however, the brand is dropping a collaboration of a decidedly ornithological variety: it’s taken flight with umbrella manufacturer Original Duckhead.
The Nanga x Original Duckhead umbrella is all about the two’s shared avian influence — in the case of Nanga, the signature duck down lining that’s used in its jackets and sleeping bags, in the case of Original Duckhead, its duck head-adorned umbrella handles. The umbrella features a green canopy with a white, feather-inspired print, green hardware and a natural wood handle. That’s not all, though, as it’s packaged in a puffy case that resembles one of Nanga’s sleeping bags.

In an interesting twist collaboration’s genesis came from a trip the Nanga team took to New York City in 2023. During a stop at the MoMA Design Store, they discovered the Original Duckhead umbrella and were thoroughly charmed. “After buying several to take back to Japan, we recognized the perfect synergy between our brands,” said Tomoyuki Yokota, Nanga’s founder and president. “This collaboration was a natural fit and we’re thrilled to bring it to life.”
