LEGO Taps Into '80s Nostalgia with Blacktron Renegade Set

LEGO is bringing back interstellar nostalgia with the reveal of the LEGO Icons Blacktron Renegade Set, a tribute to the Blacktron Future Generation series from the 1980s. Known for its sleek black and yellow design and asymmetrical shape, the original Blacktron Renegade spaceship remains a fan favorite from LEGO’s classic space era.
This updated version blends retro charm with modern engineering, featuring intricate details designed for adult collectors. The modular spaceship includes standout features like a planet-rover drop pod, retractable landing gear and two wing-mounted space speeders. Accompanying the set are three Blacktron minifigures and a droid figure, with online instructions offering builders the option to reimagine the set into the iconic Blacktron Alienator.
The 1,151-piece set, priced at $99 USD, is expected to be released on January 4 via LEGO’s official site and at select retail stores.
