Jake Paul Defeats Mike Tyson by Unanimous Decision
Going all eight rounds.
Jake Paul has defeated Mike Tyson by unanimous decision with scores 80-72, 79-73, 79-73.
The two finally went head-to-head at the A&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas tonight, with the bout marking Iron Mike’s first professional boxing match since his loss against Kevin McBride in 2005. Tonight’s fight also set a record for the largest age difference in professional boxing history at 31 years. Unlike traditional sanctioned fights, however, this match consisted of eight two-minute rounds and required Tyson and Paul to sport 14-ounce gloves.
Tyson has a slight advantage over his younger opponent in his first round, landing two out of his five punches. Paul was able to get a few in, connecting an overhand right, and started off the third round aggressively with a triple left hook to dominate Tyson. By the start of the fourth round, however, Paul had overtaken the 58-year-old in punches landed and subsequently tied the unofficial score. Tyson’s age shows as the rounds pass and is evidently slower than the 27-year-old Paul, with the latter of landing more effective punches. The end of the final two minutes saw the pair pay their respects towards each other, bowing and touching gloves as the eight round ended.
Paul’s professional record now stands at 11-1, while Tyson’s is at 50-7.
