Artisans de Genève’s “AFRIKA” is a Rolex GMT-Master II with Worldtime Function
With a color palette that pays homage to Africa’s landscapes.
Artisans de Genève has lifted the veil of its newest bespoke project. Entitled “AFRIKA,” the time-teller remagines a Rolex GMT-Master II 116710 in a bold and adventurous way.
“My watch takes me back to the Okonjati Wildlife Sanctuary and everything they do to protect rhinos. AFRIKA means birthplace, motherland. The perfect name for a timepiece that stands for life and freedom,” notes the client. Drawing inspiration from that, the reference is refitted with skeletonized movement, complete with a green ceramic world time bezel that features 24 different cities alongside their respective timezones.
This deep, earthy green is iterated on the chapter ring as well as dauphine-shaped hands. In addition to green, touches of yellow gold are also impemented onto the openworked dial — creating a sophisticated palette that nods to Africa’s natural landscapes.
