adidas Wants You to Roller Skate in Superstars
The German sportswear brand has remodeled the flagship silhouette with a high-top build and four branded wheels.
A cultural icon, the adidas Superstar has landed on the feet of all kinds of creatives, artists and athletes throughout its more than 50 years of existence — in fact, 75% of professional basketball players wore the low-top silhouette at one point in the ’70s; hip-hop groups, like Run DMC, endorsed the shoe in the ’80s and ’90s; and streetwear aficionados took hold of the model in the 2000s, thanks to collabs with the likes of BAPE, UNION LA, NEIGHBORHOOD and more, among many other footwear-passionate groups.
Roller skaters, however, have never been in the Superstar group chat — until now.
Leaked images from House of Heat show the German sportswear brand’s latest innovation of its flagship silhouette: a high-top iteration of the Superstar built with a full slate of wheels for roller-skating. Appearing in black, silver metallic and magenta tones, the design employs the Superstar’s classic leather upper, shell toe, and Three Stripes iconography across the midfoot. Meanwhile, four adidas-branded wheels are attached to the sole in all-black.
adidas has not yet announced an official release date for the adidas Superstar Roller Skates, though it’s expected to launch in 2025. Stay tuned to Hypebeast as more info becomes available, and take a first look at the design in the gallery above.
