Porsche Unveils Weissach-Developed Formula E 99X Electric
To be raced by drivers in the works-run TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E and Andretti Formula E Teams in 2025.
Porsche has unveiled its latest Formula E contender, the 99X Electric, set to compete for the next two seasons in the GEN3 Evo era. The 99X Electric showcases Porsche’s continuous evolution in electric racing technology, with significant updates designed to enhance performance and efficiency.
Among the standout innovations are the car’s new front-wheel drive activation for qualifying duels, race starts and Attack Mode, which temporarily gives it all-wheel drive. This feature, combined with higher-performance Hankook tires, allows the 99X Electric to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just two seconds. Porsche’s development team has also introduced a modified front wing for greater stability and improved aerodynamics.
Returning for another season are drivers Pascal Wehrlein, the reigning World Champion and António Félix da Costa, who recorded the most wins last season. Andretti Formula E will also field customer cars with former champion Jake Dennis and new Porsche works driver Nico Müller.
The new 99X Electric sports a fresh look, featuring striking Purple Sky Metallic and Shade Green Metallic colors, inspired by Porsche’s Taycan Turbo GT road car. Pre-season testing for the new 99X Electric is scheduled to take place November 4-7 in Valencia, Spain.
