Meaning twice as good?

Exciting news has just landed for instant ramyun lovers, with Nongshim unveiling a brand new flavor, “Shin Ramyun The Red” — which is said to be twice as spicy as its existing Shin Ramyun, which for some means twice as delicious.

Nongshim, one of the largest food and beverage companies in South Korea has become especially known for its Shin Ramyun line, which is the best-selling ramyun product in its country and a leader globally. Putting this into perspective, Nongshim said that “since its creation in 1986, more than 22 billion bags have been sold. If every bag of Shin Ramyun ever sold is placed end to end, it would be more than 100 times the distance from Earth to the moon.”

More current data from Nongshim showed that in South Korea alone, one person consumes over 80 bags a year, which comes out to roughly one bag every five days.

With its latest offering, the beloved noodle brand has turned the heat up on one of its most popular packs, bringing its rating on the Scoville index up to 7,500 SHU from 3,400 SHU. This makes the pack spicer than its “Angry Neoguri” pack and coincidentally the brand’s spiciest ramen ever.

Besides spice, other updates to the new pack include reinforced beef, shiitake mushrooms, bok choy and a thicker broth. For those eager to try, Nongshim plans to release “Shin Ramyun The Red” at select retailers starting August 14 — although, based on the bag’s heart monitor line tracing-like design, maybe it’s best to proceed with caution.
