Nike Enlisted Parris Goebel for Celebratory "Goddess Awakened" Dance Performance in Paris
Ushering in the “next era” for Nike Women, with choreography brought to life by more than 30 Nike athletes.
In Paris on Wednesday, Nike hosted its “Goddess Awakened” experience, made in collaboration with choreographer, dancer and athlete Parris Goebel. Celebrating the power of womanhood, the event featured a dance performance from more than 30 Nike athletes, directed by Goebel.
“Goddess Awakened” looked to usher in Nike Women’s “next era,” in which the brand will become a “platform for celebrating and empowering female creativity and self-expression through the lens of community,” per Liz Weldon, Nike Women’s vice president of brand management.
The 40-minute performance, which was galvanized by Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, included a series of dynamic numbers that collectively highlighted feminine talent. Additionally, fashion played a key role in the event, with several statement pieces from forthcoming Nike collaborators, including Martine Rose, Yoon Ahn and Feng Chen Wang, on display.

“Throughout history, women have been told how to act, what to say, how to feel—tonight is about breaking those binds and letting our voices be heard, our bodies be acknowledged, and our wings take flight, together,” said Goebel. “To me, there is no better way to express the love, grief, power and femininity of this moment than through dance, and I’m grateful for Nike’s partnership in giving me the stage, literally and figuratively, to do it.”
