NBA 2K24 won’t be available to the masses until September, but its rollout kicks off today with the announcement of one of the game’s cover athletes: the late Kobe Bryant. Visual Concepts and 2K Sports have revealed that the Lakers legend will grace the cover for the fourth time. The five-time NBA champion will be featured on both the NBA 2K24 Black Mamba Edition and the standard edition, which is named the Kobe Bryant Edition this year. Additionally, there will be an exclusive 25th Anniversary Edition which includes a 12-month subscription to NBA League Pass. It is possible that additional cover athletes will be unveiled in the future, as the series has previously featured multiple stars in previous years.

“As we celebrate 25 years of NBA 2K with Kobe Bryant, we commemorate his legacy and the generational impact he has had on the game of basketball,” Greg Thomas, president at Visual Concepts, the game’s developer, mentioned in a statement. “While we mark the history of the franchise, NBA 2K24 also looks ahead to the future to bring an innovative leap in technology and the introduction of community-requested features like crossplay.”

You can view both covers in the gallery above and note that pre-orders for the game will begin on July 7.
