Trilobe Dedicates a Limited-Edition Nuit Fantastique for Hodinkee

Hodinkee has partnered up with independent French watchmaker, Trilobe to craft a limited timepiece. Having only launched in 2018, the watch brand quickly won over the hearts of Hodinkee with its innovative timepieces, with a particular emphasis on a “no-hands” approach.

The two parties’ first collaborative piece together is modeled from Trilobe’s flagship Nuit Fantastique model. Attired in a grade 5 titanium case that measures 38.5mm in diameter, and 9.2mm in thickness, the piece features a sleek black dial in a radical guilloché grain d’orge pattern that encircles the off-center calabash-silhouetted indicators. Its outer ring is decorated with italic Roman Numerals.

The most exciting feature of the Nuit Fantastique is its unusual and mesmerizing way to read the time — every component on the dial rotates constantly, except for the trefoil-shaped motif which stays put at the 12 o’clock mark. Hours are indicated via the periphery, while minutes can be read from the smaller circular aperture. These inventive mechanisms are powered by the handcrafted X-Centric caliber, a self-winding mechanical movement that’s equipped with a micro-rotor and a running time of 48 hours.

The Trilobe Nuit Fantastique Limited Edition for Hodinkee is priced at $13,000 USD and is sold exclusively at the Hodinkee shop.
