Hiroshi Fujiwara‘s fragment design and the Japanese agricultural organization Shiki Farmers Club have come together for a special fragment melon project. Japanese melons are a popular fruit for summer in the country and prices for the cantaloupes can range from inexpensive to hundreds of dollars for select melons intended for gift-giving.
Shiki Farmers Club’s mission is to change the image of agriculture in Japan and turn it into an attractive profession that everyone admires. Despite having rich natural environments and advanced technical capabilities, Japanese agriculture faces various challenges including the country’s aging population. Shiki Farmer’s Club looks to uplift the industry and shine a light on the potential it holds.
All of Shiki’s products are customized by hand and bear individual differences. Its fragment melon features a thunderbolt logo etched on the surface and comes in a custom black box.
The fragment melon is now available online for ¥10,000 JPY (approximately $70 USD).
