Book Works Meets Adsum for a Jazz-Fueled Apparel Collaboration

Following the release of its Spring 2023 “Where the High Notes Hang” collection, Oskar Mann and Martin Davis’ Book Works has returned with a new capsule collection, made in collaboration with Adsum. The team-up, born out of a long-term friendship, finds synergy in the imprints’ shared home of New York City and a love for jazz music — both of which play into the collection’s stylistic details.
The music-minded range comprises five pieces: a button-down, a graphic T-shirt, two hats and a lanyard. Among them, the Premium Button-Down, constructed from a summer-weight Oxford cloth, boasts an all-over repeat pattern mimicking the waves of sheet music. Staying in tune, Adsum’s custom eighth note iconography lands on the front pocket, while Book Works’ record motif resides on the back collar.
“The playful repeat pattern is good for summer music in the park or a night out with friends, and we’d like to think it’s something that a Head Hunters era Herbie Hancock would have no problem wearing up on stage,” writes Book Works.
Elsewhere, the line’s graphic T-shirt and lanyard both pay homage to jazz’s favorite instrument: the saxophone. Where the tee hosts a watercolor depiction of a custom Adsum + Book Works reed box, the lanyard turns the saxophone into a keychain strap with a trigger-style clasp. Rounding out the range, the snapback hat, available in green and navy, features Adsum’s eighth note logo on the front and Book Works’ record on the back.
The Adsum + Book Works collection will release on Thursday, June 8, at 11 a.m. ET on the Adsum and Book Works’ webstores. Check out the collection in the lookbook above.
