The first trailer is out for part one of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, the seventh installment in the long-running Mission Impossible franchise. Directed and produced by Christopher McQuarrie, the action spy flick sees Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) return for his most dangerous mission to date. Along with the IMF team, Hunt is tasked with locating a dangerous weapon that could potentially wipe out humanity, kicking off a lightning-fast race around the world.

Our lives are the sum of our choices, and we cannot escape the past,” a narrator reads in the video’s voiceover. “Ethan, this mission of yours is going to cost you dearly.”

Hunt pulls up to the side of a mountain on his motorcycle, peering over. From there, a montage ensues, previewing a troop storming across the desert by horse, a submarine explosion and the reunification of old friends and adversaries.

In addition to Cruise, the main cast of Dead Reckoning includes Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby and Henry Czerny. The second part of the movie was shot back-to-back and has already received a release date for 2024.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One hits theaters on July 12. Watch the film’s new trailer above.
