New Balance's Made in UK Umbrella Expands Its 576 Offering With Two New Colorways
Celebrating 35 years of the silhouette.
New Balance’s Made in UK umbrella has just presented two new colorways of its 576 to celebrate the silhouette’s 35th anniversary.
For New Balance, its Flimby-based and locally-run factory has produced some of the brand’s most aesthetically-pleasing designs to date. For example, the HQ has dropped its 991 in “Slate Blue” and “Mocha,” while its “Gentleman’s Pack” utilized a slew of earthy tones across its 730, 991, and 1500 sneakers.
Now, these new 576 designs have been unveiled in two OG colorways of grey and navy. Originally designed as classic running shoes in 1988, the sneaker was crafted to be able to withstand any terrain, while it was also given a wider fit and roomier toe box to give extra mobility on longer runs. With this in mind, these latest versions of the sneaker are more of the same and they have been complemented with suede details along with speckles of mesh and pigskin.
Additionally, the 576 also includes New Balance’s classic ENCAP midsole along with a motion control device and rubber outsole. Speaking about the silhouette’s 35th anniversary, Sam Pearce, Creative Design Manager for New Balance Made in UK said: “The 576 has taken on many different forms and variations over the years, but now, with the model clocking its 35th anniversary we wanted to give the consumer the true experience of this shoe in its original form.
“Meticulous care was taken at a pattern and engineering level to replicate details such as the tongue construction, branding placement, and even the shoe’s stitch weight. This bring-back, based on an original Japanese catalog spec, represents its most authentic version to date.”
You can take a closer look at the latest New Balance Made in UK drop above and it will be available to shop via the official New Balance website from March 2.
