WE11DONE FW23 “Twisted Classics” Marks a New Chapter for the Korean Brand

Exploring the history of modern and postmodern artwork through fantastical silhouettes that tell a foreign tale.

Korean label WE11DONE is at the top of its game. Founded by Dami Kwon and Jessica Jung, the duo have strayed away from the typical Fashion Week schedule for the last few seasons to focus on internal matters. As the hard work continues, WE11DONE presents its latest off-schedule offering that looks back at staple brand DNA in order to start a new chapter.

For Fall/Winter 2023, Jung kept her usual artistic inspirations at the forefront, exploring the definition of modern and postmodern artwork by deconstructing its traditional concepts. Postmodernism’s rejective nature of everyday realities is reflected via eerie model poses and bizarre detailing on recognizable WE11DONE silhouettes. Structural coats sunk in at the ribcage to reveal a hollow interior, matched with office-ready skirts revealing extensive slits with a rebellious attitude. Metallic suiting made for the future jumped onto skin-tight biker shorts paired with ruthless spiked tailoring, while stacked skirts communicated otherworldly motifs alongside wool tops and bags.

Titled “Twisted Classics,” the collection promised and delivered just that and questioned the meaning of traditional fashion staples. Furthermore, mythical padded outerwear boasted chest fastenings taken from a foreign land, employed next to skin-tight sequinned bottoms and sliced mohair pullovers with grandiose V-neck detailing. Genderless and undoubtedly unique, WE11DONE’s FW23 collection was an archival history lesson for all.

Take a closer look at WE11DONE’s FW23 collection above.
