During his time at the helm of Louis Vuitton menswear, Virgil Abloh introduced his own interpretation of luxury streetwear. Over a year after his passing, Abloh’s presence is still felt in every crevice of the Vuitton design language, continuing to pay tribute to the late designer by keeping his staple garments in rotation every season.

Virgil Abloh’s basketball-inspired LV Trainer has consistently guided the House through the booming sneaker scene, having recently been encrusted in crystals and swallowed by monogram denim. Now, Louis Vuitton douses the silhouette in vintage comic prints taken from its Spring/Summer 2023 collection.

The chunky silhouette is fashioned in all-over canvas, while artistic designs lay atop, splattered in vibrant blue, green, pink, red, and yellow hues. Traditional comic book illustrations are found throughout, featuring Crayon-like pigmentation, large Louis Vuitton scripture, flames, motorcycles, and several variations of the House’s classic monogram logo.

Elsewhere, leather LV insignia adorns the tongues and forefeet, while green rear tabs sport debossed “#54” characters. The low-top sneaker is complete with thick-cut white midsoles fashioned with monogram flower emblems and blue outsole accents.

Take a closer look at the newest edition of the LV Trainer in the gallery above. The shoe is available now via Louis Vuitton for $1,360 USD.

Elsewhere in footwear, the Aloha Super “One Black Eye” channels Gonz’s artistic talents.
