Jaeger-Lecoultre Documents the Various Stages of Watchmaking With ‘In the Making’
An expansive video series showcasing one skill at a time.
Luxury Swiss watch Maison, Jaeger-LeCoultre has premiered its In the Making video series. The series goes behind the scenes of its Manufacture in Vallée de Joux, where it documents slowly unravels each of the 180 different artisanal processes that contribute to a Jaeger-LeCoultre timepiece.
The series is dedicated to showcasing one skill at a time and eventually shedding light on even the rarest stages in the watchmaking process. Each process will also be narrated by the artisans themselves for their expert input while providing a platform for them to convey their passion for the craft.
In the Making is split into several chapters, ranging from Design, Produce, Finish, and Ornament — each corresponding to the chronological process of crafting an exquisite timepiece. To start, only eight videos have been released, covering only the Design chapter. The videos go into detail on various stages of a timepiece’s designing process, spanning aesthetics and style, research & development, polishing, restoration, bevelling, enameling, engraving, and gem-setting.
