H. Moser & Cie. just introduced a tantalum case for its signature Endeavour Perpetual Calendar timepiece, the first-ever piece in the brand’s history to incorporate the prestigious yet rare metal.

Notorious for its potent resistance to acids and corrosions, tantalum is known and recognized for its extreme toughness, ductility, and lustrous finish. Despite the precious metal’s natural dark gray hue, its gifted with mesmerizing bluish reflections that add to its unique allure.

Attired in a 42mm case, the watch omits most of the indices and details on the dial, leaving only the hour and minute hands, 12 and 6 o’clock hour-markers, date window as well as two small hands to indicate the months. This minimalistic approach showcases an uninterrupted “Grand Feu” enamel dial, which is doused in a tantalizing Abyss Blue fumé and in a hammered finish that ties with the case’s subtle blue hue. Inside the time-teller, runs the H. Moser & Cie.’s hallmarked HMC 800 manufacture Calibre, which offers the watch an astounding 7-day power reserve, while beating 18,000 vibrations per hour.

Speaking on the watchmaker’s decision to use tantalum for the perpetual calendar, the CEO of H. Moser & Cie., Edouard Meylan explains that his fascination with the material began when his parents gifted his 18-year-old self a tantalum Haute Horology timepiece. “Ever since then, I have dreamed of introducing this metal at H. Moser & Cie., in spite of the challenges it poses. It took more than two years of testing before we were able to polish the surfaces of our case, a feat that few have been able to match, with most preferring to sandblast or satin-finish tantalum,” says Meylan.

The Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Tantalum Blue Enamel will retail for $82,500 USD. To find out about its availability, visit H. Moser & Cie.’s official website for more details.
