Roger Dubuis has unveiled its latest masterpiece, a new iteration of its Knights of the Round Table watch. The new timepiece embraces a narrative of valor and craftsmanship, deeply rooted and inspired by the mythical Arthurian legend.

The watch taps into the philosophy of the Round Table, where each knight’s seat was a testament to equality and unity. This ethos is represented in the creation of the watch, where designers, watchmakers and artisans have joined forces, each contributing their skills to bring the final product to life.

At the heart of the watch are twelve micro-engraved knights, each distinct in posture. These 6 mm tall figures, cast in 18K pink gold, are the result of a meticulous process that includes 3D scanning, molding and manual engraving. The attention to detail is so precise that crafting each knight can take up to three days, a testament to the patience and skill required in crafting this watch.

The dial of the timepiece is a portrayal of an icy Arthurian landscape, achieved through the use of ice-blue glass crafted using the Murano method and Limoges biscuit porcelain. The result is a stunning matte and shiny contrast, capturing the essence of a frozen adventure. This dial is a 3D puzzle of radical composition, painstakingly assembled block by block by the craftsmen at Roger Dubuis.

Its 45 mm case is crafted from Titanium Damascus, paying homage to ancient steel craftsmanship. The metal undergoes a rigorous process of layering, heating and hammering, followed by an acid bath to reveal a mesmerizing wave pattern.

Powering the watch is the automatic Monobalancier RD821 calibre — this in-house movement, composed of 172 parts, meets the stringent criteria of the Poinçon de Genève certification. The crown mimics a sword’s guard, while the strap features a Quick Release System for easy customization.

Notably, each watch is inscribed at the caseback, with an oath inspired by the words of the wizard Merlin, reading, “Around this table, the bravest knights will gather as equals. They will set forth in search of adventure, righting wrongs, protecting the weak and humbling the proud.”

While pricing and availability have not been publicly shared at the time of writing, Roger Dubuis did express that the timepiece, limited to 28 examples, is for “those in our close community who are on a quest for peerless design, there is perhaps no better timepiece to pursue.”
