Sara Schoenberger's Squiggly Lamps Want to Jazz Up Your Walls
Boasting shapes inspired by the curves of brass instruments used in jazz.
Contemporary lighting designer Sara Schoenberger’s Louis Collection offers a playful, wiggly take on the classic swinging wall lamp, with voluptuous silhouettes that take notes from a jazz club.
While crafting the curvaceous lineup, Schoenberger, who is from New Orleans, was galvanized by Louis Armstrong, the famous jazz trumpeter from her hometown. The collection draws inspiration from the signature curves of brass instruments like his, emulating their twisting nature in an abundance of standout tones.
Among the range, the Small, Downlight is the “perfect bedside reading lamp,” per the brand; while the Large, Uplight looks to fuel spaces with warmth by directing light upward toward the walls. Both pieces, which operate with dimmable four-watt LED bulbs, are available in a hand-applied black patina, as well as four powdercoated colors: “Red Brown,” “Gentian Blue,” “Blood Orange” and “Emerald Green.”
Sara Schoenberger’s Louis Collection is available to shop on the brand’s webstore. The small size, which measures 5″x 10.5″ x 15.7″, costs $950 USD, while the large edition, which measures 2″ x 43″ x 11”, is priced at $1,050 USD.
