Remastered 1981 Queen Concert Film To Premiere on IMAX
Featuring the band’s performances at Montreal’s Forum.
A remaster of Queen‘s We Will Rock You concert film, now entitled Queen Rock Montreal, is premiering on IMAX in January 2024.
The new version has been updated specifically for IMAX and will include “12-channel surround sound, crystal-clear images and customized theater geometry.” Queen Rock Montreal will showcase footage from two of the band’s 1981 shows at Montreal’s Forum and feature the group’s hits. “I don’t think we quite realized it at the time, but this film has preserved one of the highest peaks in Queen’s touring life, on stage in the old glory days,” Brian May said in a press release via Consequence. “The director [Saul Swimmer] was very much focused on Freddie, and this now stands as probably the most precious intimate capture ever of Mr. Mercury at his full awesome power.” Roger Taylor added, “Enjoy. We were young!”
