As the week in music comes to a close, Hypebeast has rounded up the best projects for the latest installment of Best New Tracks.

This week’s lineup is led by André 3000, Drake and Lil Wayne with 2 Chainz, who released the projects New Blue Sun, Scary Hours 3 and Welcome 2 ColleGrove, respectively. Also joining this selection are offerings from Danny Brown, Shygirl, No Guidnce, Daniel Noah Miller and CyHi Da Prynce with Pusha T.

André 3000 - New Blue Sun

André 3000’s New Blue Sun is a dream come true for many. The eight-track album marks his first album in 17 years and his debut solo studio effort, and although it doesn’t come with the raps that fans expected it to, the instrumental record is the next step into 3 Stacks’ creative evolution.

Drake - Scary Hours 3

Drake delivers the third installment in his ongoing EP series, Scary Hours. The Boy revealed in a teaser that he created the project in just five days, and that didn’t have any bars written down during the process of the EP’s immediate predecessor For All the Dogs. This may be the last project from the artist in a while, as he previously stated that he could be taking a short break due to some health issues.

Lil Wayne x 2 Chainz - Welcome 2 ColleGrove

Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz’s ColleGrove sequel, Welcome 2 ColleGrove, is here after seven years. The 21-track effort includes guest appearances from 21 Savage on “Big Diamonds,” Usher on “Transparency,” Fabolous on “PPA,” Benny the Butcher on “Oprah and Gayle,” Vory on “Godzilla,” Rick Ross on “Can’t Believe You” and Marsha Ambrosius on the closer “Moonlight,” and reassures fans that the duo’s chemistry is as electric as ever.

Danny Brown - Quaranta

Danny Brown drops off his seventh studio album, Quaranta. Translating to 40 in Italian, the record is described as a “spiritual bookend” to Brown’s breakout album XXX, as well as a “meditative follow-up” to this year’s SCARING THE HOES with JPEGMAFIA.

CyHi x Pusha T – “Mr. Put That Shit On”

CyHi delivers an accompanying music video for his recent Pusha T collab, “Mr. Put That Shit On.” The visual is inspired by The Wiz and sees CyHi as a scarecrow dressed in a recycled Tom Ford duffel bag that was recreated into a vest over a Margiela sweatshirt. The joint serves as the lead single The Story of EGOT, which fans are looking forward to listening to soon.

Shygirl – “thicc”

Despite being forced to cancel her co-headlining tour with Tinashe last month, Shygirl is tiding fans over with her new single, “thicc.” Produced by Karma Kid and Sega Bodega, the track was created while working on her debut LP Nymph. “I’ve enjoyed teasing this one at festivals and shows while still in demo mode for over a year already with the idea of somehow infusing the energy of the crowd into this final version of the song — ‘thicc’ is fun and carefree and definitely a tease—all the classic traits of club shy infused into one track,” she says.

No Guidnce – “White Tee/Long Walk”

Rising R&B group No Guidnce drops their back-to-back singles “White Tee” and “Long Walk.” The pair of tracks fuse the classic R&B sound with the distinct chemistry of the group, and arrives as they go on their first ever supporting tour.

Daniel Noah Miller – “Opening Me”

Nicaraguan-American artist Daniel Noah Miller unveils the February 16, 2024 release of his debut album Disintegration, making the announcement alongside his newest single “Opening Me.” He describes the track as one that “documents the final heartbroken, spiraling days of a romantic relationship. It was something I wrote as I was experiencing this pain in real time, which is rare for me. I often find it can take me several months or even years to work through my experiences in a way that feels worth sharing. I have long been reluctant to document sentiments like anger or jealousy that are fleeting, and that I might later regret or not align with. But, this song poured out of me while I was sleeping on an air mattress at the studio where we were recording. I might have missed it for being so numb with sadness, but my producer Jack Hallenbeck overheard me strumming through the idea and pushed me to finish it. It’s one of my favorite songs that came out of this process.”
