Instagram users may soon be able to share Stories with different groups of people.

Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri revealed the news during a recent broadcast, explaining that the feature is similar to the app’s “Close Friends” option and will allow users to show specific stories to multiple audience lists that they can curate. “This allows you to share stories to smaller groups and gives you more control over who can see your stories,” Mosseri said per Engadget. “As someone who uses Close Friends often, I’m pretty excited about being able to create additional lists for the people in my life.”

The example used by the social media giant sees the Close Friends list as well as one named “SF Foodies,” “Siblings” and “Travel Crew,” hinting that users will be able to name those lists themselves.

It remains to be seen whether the feature will receive a general release, however.

In case you missed it, Meta could soon offer an ad-free subscription service.
