Colmar Teases Collaborative Capsule With Joshua Vides

Heritage Italian luxury outerwear brand Colmar is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary. Now, hot on the heels of its just-dropped short documentary — that looks back at the brand’s creations and outlets of inspiration — Colmar has just hinted at an all-new capsule collection in collaboration with American artist, Joshua Vides.

Coming from Palo Alto, California, Joshua Vides is a visual artist who’s gained a stellar reputation following his first custom Nike Air Force 1 design in 2017, finding an identifiable voice that was able to expand into visual art — allowing the creative to build parallel realities obtained through his manual mark. Since then, Vides has collaborated with a slew of fashion houses — such as PUMA and New Balance — as well as with the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and Google.

“I usually start collaborations with a specific idea in mind,” Joshua Vides said. “I don’t like to overthink it. I give myself the freedom to react to the stimuli of the moment and create the concept on the spot. In this particular case, I thought about what an artist has in common with an athlete, the idea of constant creativity in finding solutions, the best possible ones, to react to failure. The satisfaction of winning after failing several times, of standing on a podium and getting back up after a defeat.”
