Czapek Unveils Refreshed Quai des Bergues Model
Featuring a newly developed hand-guilloché pattern on the dial and new case size.
Swiss watchmaker Czapek has revealed a revamped version of its signature Quai des Bergues model, complete with a 40.5mm steel case designed to cater to a broader range of wrist sizes.
The decision to introduce a new case size stems from the brand’s engagement with its community, who expressed a desire for a “Goldilocks” size that melds elegance with adaptability, sitting between the model’s two existing sizes.
While the latest rendition retains the characteristic style of the Quai des Bergues case, it does see a slight modification of the case-side recesses to accommodate the Calibre SXH1 movement. Additionally, a subtle adjustment to the slope of the lugs ensures a snug fit on the wrist.
“The two existing sizes of the Quai des Bergues have always been well received,” shared Czapek CEO Xavier de Roquemaurel, adding “But, among our community of enthusiasts, we’ve had many comments and discussions about creating a perfect ‘Goldilocks’ size in between – one that is adaptable and elegant, looks both dressy and sporty and has a great presence on wrists of all sizes. The design of the case is very organic and fluid – and for that, I pay tribute to the biomechanical style of the artist H.R.Giger whose work has always fascinated me.”
Other notable aspects of the refreshed model include a new hand-guilloché pattern dubbed Guilloché “Double Soleil,” inspired by the parhelion phenomenon or “sun dogs.” This new pattern was created in collaboration with Czapek’s dial-making partner Metalem.
The new pattern mirrors the optical illusion caused by sunlight refracting through ice crystals in the atmosphere, providing a dazzling effect. From a technical standpoint, the updated watch features a refined movement, manually wound with a 7-day power reserve.
Czapek’s updated Quai des Bergues model is available now in a “Deep Blue” or “Tuxedo Black” for 18,800 CHF or $21,052 USD via official reservation inquiry only on its official site.
