Over two years since the PlayStation 5 first made its debut in November 2020, Sony has said that it will be rolling out an increased supply of the console to make it much easier for gamers to get their hands on one.

The PS5 was notoriously in-demand after it launched, with many consumers paying far above market price to acquire a console on the second-hand market. Sony struggled to keep up with demands as the entire hardware industry suffered from a shortage of electric components throughout the pandemic, something it’s still continuing to recover from.

“To all our fans: thank you for your patience as we navigated unprecedented demand for the PS5 console amid global challenges,” Vice President of Brand, Hardware and Peripherals Isabelle Tomatis shared in a blog post. “If you’re looking to purchase a PS5 console, you should now have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally.”

Those located in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg will be able to buy their PS5 console and games directly from PlayStation. The PS5 will also be sold at participating retailers in the aforementioned countries and globally.

The PS5 supply news arrives just weeks before Sony will release its new PSVR2, a next-generation headset for its VR-specific gaming console. The headset is priced at $549.99 USD and will make its debut on February 22.

In other gaming news, The Elder Scrolls Online has returned to Morrowind in the new expansion trailer.
