Rick Owens DRKSHDW x Converse Update Its TURBODRK and TURBOWPN Silhouettes
Featuring Zebra print and two-tone designs.
It has been a while since the Rick Owens DRKSHDW x Converse collaboration offered up something new from its popular collaboration. Now, the wait is over as the brands have updated their TURBODRK Chuck 70 and TURBOPWN silhouettes.
To bring forth the new footwear offerings, the brands take a look at the safari as the TURBODRK Chuck 70 appears in an eye-catching zebra-inspired jacquard design in a fluffy shearling-like fabric. The TURBOWPN comes into the mix with a two-tone design in the collaboration’s signature black and beige hues. In addition to the footwear, the new offering also includes the Go Lo and Go 2 backpacks in zebra-inspired jacquard.
To bring forth the update, Rick Owens and Converse enlist New Orleans bounce music pioneer Big Freedia for the campaign. “Over 10 years ago, I was frustrated that there wasn’t a sleazy dance club within walking distance from my house in the 7th Arrondissement of Paris so I decided to start one myself,” said Owens. I reached out to Big Freedia to come perform because I was excited about the new energy and attitude I heard coming from the New Orleans Bounce scene. Now, 10 years later I have asked him to represent my collab with Converse to celebrate his enduring power and ferocity in an all too often narrow and judgemental world.”
Also supporting the new offering is a new playlist created by Owens.
