Marine Serre continues to make a grand presentation with her Fall/Winter 2023 presentation at Paris Fashion Week, taking over the Grande Halle de La Villette.

When you enter the venue, the showgoers are immediately greeted with a mystical and poetic ambiance. Three towers of various materials were dimly lit as center stage, including that denim and cotton t-shirts, a comment on sustainability no doubt, setting the tone for the show. The set resembles a scale model of a dystopian future, where the guests appear to be imagined as the refuge of tomorrow – hence, the rising shelter – who Marine Serre banks on to fight together and push for an improved society.

More than half the guests who attended were given free admission so the masses could experience and explore the alternative outlooks and visions that transform the fashion industry. Models of all shapes, sizes and ages walked the runway, a reflection of what is truly out there in the world. The collection featured five sections. The first saw the house showcase a selection of cream, white and beige tones on the earth-friendly cotton totes, featuring house motifs and symbols on unisex designs that include bowling shirts, coats, trucker jackets, skirts, and overshirts.

Familiar archetypes continued to show up in new offerings created from grey and black denim, household linens, tees, and leather. The now-iconic moiré that is synonymous with the house was seen crafted from recycled fishing lines and nets. A rebellious nature was prominent across the collection, featuring leather accessories for a Motorcross-inspired tone. Elegance was brought to the runway in tailored suiting and body-skimming patchwork and fluffy knit designs. A feminine approach to silhouettes accentuated curves to create complex-yet-minimal silhouettes.
