Nike Announces Its Innovative Nike Forward Apparel Collection
With a reductive approach, the Swoosh has crafted a new capsule that’s made of 70% recycled content by weight.
Nike‘s design teams are constantly fishing for ways to engineer products that help athletes perform better, feel more comfortable and look flier, all the while being more friendly to our Mother Earth. Technologies like DRI-Fit and Tech Fleece and FlyKnit have all been key categories for the brand’s apparel line, and now it’s adding its latest piece of innovative apparel to its cannon — Nike Forward.
The new range is designed with a reductive approach. Instead of abiding by the traditional multi-stage production cycle, the Swoosh has altered its tactics by instead turning fiber to textile through a needle-punch, and as a result has lowered its carbon footprint by 75%. The pieces — which include sporty gray pullover hoodies and crewnecks for men and women — also come manufactured with 70% recycled content by weight, and this further aligns with the sportswear giant’s commitment to sustainability. “As part of our commitment to serve the athletes* by offering more sustainable options and meeting our bold, science-based impact targets, we’re introducing a material innovation that can be adapted to different lifestyle and performance purposes.” Says Snikeana Hannah, VP Sustainable Innovation, Nike, Inc.
Nike Forward items can be made with various layers such as industrial and post-consumer waste. It doubles up as a new category for Nike to solve athlete’s problems and create a new bar for sportswear aesthetic and performance.
Those interested in copping can find the Nike Forward hoodie and crew styles releasing globally on September 15, 2022.
