BASICKS Showcases Debut Runway Show at DHL’s Tokyo Distribution Centre

Featuring upcycled looks from the logistics brand.

From music to fashion, DHL continues to diversify its partnerships beyond logistics. At the Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO 2023 ​​S/S, the brand offered its distribution center to support Masanori Morikawa’s first runway show for his label BASICKS.

Showcasing a selection of pieces from its upcoming collection, BASICKS also presented its collaboration with DHL. With a shared vision for an environmentally-friendly future, sustainability was at the forefront of the show as the range comprised of upcycled garments using its signature yellow, red and black uniforms repurposed by Morikawa into tops, denim pants, and a stand-out crinoline dress. Speaking on the partnership, the president of DHL Express Japan, Tony Khan says, “Although the logistics and fashion industries are different, the need for sustainability initiatives to fulfill responsibilities towards the environment is no different.”

As part of its commitment to producing net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, DHL has launched its climate-neutral international shipping service, GoGreen which offsets CO2 emissions by investing in climate protection projects as well as accelerating its rollout of more eco-friendly modes of transport.

The BASICKS x DHL collaboration is available for pre-order from September 23 via the brand’s website and will be delivered through DHL’s GoGreen service.
