no-brainer* Presents Nike Dunk Low "Bumblee" Concept
Inspired by the Volkswagen Type 1 from ‘Bumblebee’ (2018).
After introducing a wildly popular pair of conceptual “Fujiwara Tofu Shop” Dunk Lows inspired by the Toyota AE6 Trueno in Initial D, no-brainer* has been following up with several automotive-inspired Nike footwear concepts. The creations draw from Japanese Bōsōzoku motorcycle culture, custom low riders, Tyler, the Creator‘s pink Call Me If You Get Lost car, the Suzuki Ninja from A Moment of Romance, and now the Volkswagen Beetle from Bumblebee (2018).
Arriving in a more minimalist design compared to previous decal-heavy iterations, no-brainer* dresses the pairs in a faded yellow base with hints of black along the collars, laces, and tongue tabs. Reflecting the aesthetics of the Transformer which posed as a yellow desert buggy, the shoes emulate the much-in-need-of-a-wash aesthetic with pre-distressed streaks of sand. Silver Swooshes run along the laterals and the Autobots logo is printed on the heel counter. Rounding out the design are sandy white midsoles and black rubber outsoles.
