Harlem's Fashion Row Partners With LVMH To Create New Virgil Abloh Award
In celebration of its 15th-anniversary fashion show and awards.

Last year, Virgil Abloh‘s sudden death was a shock to many across the world. Since his untimely death, the industry has continued to ensure that his legacy is continued with various honors. This year, Harlem’s Fashion Row has partnered with LVMH to create the Virgil Abloh award in honor of the late innovator.
2022 marks the 15th-anniversary show and awards of the New York-based fashion organization. The new award will be presented by Abloh’s wife Shannon Abloh as an addition to the annual showcase of Black-owned brands. According to the Business of Fashion, the award “celebrates like-minded individuals who embody Virgil’s spirit, brilliance, and vision, through invaluable contributions to culture, community, and innovation.” This year’s recipients of the award include actress Issa Rae, fashion writer Robin Givhan who is writing a book about the designer, womenswear designer Sergio Hudson, stylist Ade Smuel and Janet Jackson, who will also be awarded the “Icon of the Year” award.
Designers Clarence Ruth, Johnathan Hayden and Nicole Benefield are set to showcase their collection at the 15th-anniversary show of Harlem’s Fashion Row.
