Hostess Attempts to Ride Cryptocurrency Wave With "Coin-Shaped" Twinkies
Or “cake-shaped cakes.”
Hostess has released a new take on its Twinkies snack that is raising some eyebrows. Looking to capitalize on the buzz surrounding cryptocurrency, for better or worse, Hostess has released a limited batch of “coin-shaped” Twinkies called $TWINKcoin snacks. Each cake maintains the Twinkie combo of golden sponge cake with a creamy filling.
The internet is currently confused about the release, as rather than coin-shaped, they are just “cake-shaped cakes,” and as for the name, many are wondering why the 92-year-old confectionery brand missed today’s designation for the word. Hostess has confirmed the release of these snacks at $3.50 USD per 10-pack box.
