CLOT and Timberland's Collection is an Expression of Eastern Design

For its latest collaboration, CLOT has teamed up with Timberland for the first time ever on a collection that reflects signature elements of both brands. The East-meets-West collision features footwear and a range of workwear-inspired apparel marked with dragon imagery. Standing as a legendary folk creature in China, the symbol of Eastern culture takes over Timberland’s classic heritage styles and silhouettes for the collaboration.

Leading the CLOT x Timberland collection are takes on Timberland’s 3-Eye Lug Handsewn boat shoe. Coming in “Black” and “Wheat” colorways, the shoe has been reimagined with an uptilted toe, reminiscent of a growling dragon’s head. Constructed with eco-innovative materials, the uppers are made with Better Leather from a tannery-rated silver for its environmental practices and marked with Chinese folk silk embroidery expressing the form and flames of the dragon. Additional detailing comes in the form of bright red inner linings and multi-color rope laces. Elevating the slip-on style are 34% recycled rubber outsoles with a heel at the rear and aggressive lug treading.

The CLOT x Timberland 3-Eye Lug Handsewn boat shoe is also accompanied by a matching apparel range. Coming in the form of workwear styles with Eastern-inspired details, the special range utilizes natural and recycled materials, including 100% organically grown cotton and 100% recycled cotton, while heavyweight duck canvas offers rugged protection.

“Dragon motifs have always shown up in our designs. It’s mystical, it demands power, and it’s very representative of Chinese culture,” says CLOT Founder and Creative Director, Edison Chen. “The embroidery is very much an ode to hand-stitch culture back in the day, and abstractly also tattoo culture, because it seems to have translated into Chinese tattoos where dragons and all those old motifs are showing up on people’s tattoo artworks.”

Priced at $180 USD, the “Black” and “Wheat” takes on the 3-Eye Lug Handsewn boat shoe will be available alongside the CLOT x Timberland collection via JUICE July 20.
