The Game on Tuesday took to social media to notify fans that his forthcoming album, DRILLMATIC, has been delayed once again. The record will now release on July 8, but to push fans’ excitement surrounding the release, the rapper has shared a single off the project, titled “Violence.”

The Hit-Boy-produced record, which was originally scheduled to release on June 17, was first pushed back to July 1 after the rapper called out Rolling Stone for not including his 2005 studio album The Documentary on its list for the “200 Greatest Rap Albums of All Time.”

“Heard y’all want REAL RAP again,” Game wrote on Instagram. “We got you. Game x Hit-Boy woke up & chose ‘VIOLENCE’ today !!!!!!”

In a since-deleted Instagram post from May, The Game promised big things for DRILLMATIC, claiming that the record will become the “best album” of this year.

“The energy feels like I just signed my deal,” he wrote on Instagram last month. “You’ve never heard me rap like this, I promise you.”

“When it drops, I promise you that if you put your ear to it you will then understand why I’m the best rapper alive,” he added. “My controversy has always stepped on my greatness, but that’s all about to change. This album has a strong hold on being the best album of my career.

“It’s just different… the last time I pulled over & wrote in my car was ‘I don’t need your love’ on The Documentary. Only thing is, back then it was a U-Haul. Today I pulled over the G-Wagon on Labrea because I couldn’t believe how dope the shit in my head was. I’m parked & I’m not moving until this last song is written & completed.”
