First Look at the 'Mario Kart'-Themed Attraction Arriving to Universal Studios Hollywood
The attraction will be open to public at the same time as Super Nintendo World.
Universal Studios Hollywood recently shared a video showcasing an interactive Mario Kart-themed augmented reality attraction for their brand new Super Nintendo World.
The ride is identical to the “Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge” attraction at Universal Studios Japan, which opened last March. Participants can choose to become their favorite character from the Mario Kart series to compete against Bowser.
“It seamlessly fuses augmented reality with projection mapping technology and actual set pieces along a moving ride track to debut a ride that’s unparalleled anywhere within the theme park industry,” reads an official statement for the attraction. The new ride promises both a “groundbreaking” and “multisensory” experience for fans and is considered to be “one of the most complex rides ever built within the entertainment industry.”
The Mario Kart franchise dates back to about 30 years and has since been released in eight different titles across various platforms, with an upcoming ninth installment on the way. The ride is set to open alongside Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Hollywood in Early 2023. Buckle up and take a closer look at the trailer from Universal Studios Hollywood down below.
