Following its one-year pause on all orders for the Antarctique, Czapek & Cie has just announced its new office in La-Chaux-de Fonds. Brought on by the increase in demand, the standalone building was a crucial upgrade for the relatively new watch brand that hit its five-year mark in 2020.

Starting off at around 180 timepieces per year pre-pandemic, the success of the Antarctique has now upped that number to roughly 800 watches per year. With that percentage of increase, the watchmaker does not wish to lose its high level of quality and so a larger workshop with more skilled watchmakers was called upon.

“We will bring in more watchmakers, and, if need be, the building next door is also available,” says Xavier de Roquemaurel, the company CEO. “The mid-term goal is to be able to manufacture up to 3,000 watches a year. It’s ambitious, but Czapek has the know-how and now the space to open its next chapter.”

In other watch news, Linde Werdelin Oktopus Moon becomes the brand’s lightest watch.
