Bandai Spirits and Takara Tomy Team Up To Create Two New Robotic Toys
Showcasing their collaboration at the Tokyo Toy Show.
Japanese toy companies Bandai Spirits and Takara Tomy have linked up to create two new science fiction toys from one another’s mecha franchises, Gundam Info reported. Although the two companies are technically rivals in the industry, they unveiled their collaboration last weekend at the Tokyo Toy Show.
Bandai created Liger Zero, a lion-type of creature from Tomy’s Zoids. The science fiction series features giant mechanical robots of different animals. While it began as a toy line, Zoids has since spawned five anime television series since its launch. Under Bandai, the Liger Zero joined the company’s Chogokin collector’s line.
Tomy, meanwhile, offered its take on the White Base from the anime show Mobile Suit Gundam. The Pegasus-class spaceship was presented as a miniature version, joining Tomy’s Tomica line.
The companies shared a video detailing the process of the collaboration and showcasing the new toys.
