Jamal Smith and adidas Skateboarding Reveal New Adimatic Collaboration
The 90s classic model gets reworked with a bold black and orange arrangement.

adidas‘ strategy for growing its Skateboarding category has primarily been through collaborative initiatives. In recent memory, we’ve seen the Three Stripes division link up with Jason Dill and Kader Sylla for sneaker team-ups, and now its welcoming pro-rider Jamal Smith into the mix. The iconic creator of the ‘Tornado Spin’ move (look the YouTube video) lends his creative vision to the Adimatic — a classic model from the 90s.
Smith turns towards a darker color palette for this collaboration. Under his design guidance, he fashions the side walls, tongues and toe boxes of the uppers with black suede, and the mudguards arrive styled in tonal fashion as well. Thicker Three Stripe branding on the sides stands out with bold orange suede skins, and the fatter tongues come embellished with an adidas banner. Intricate zig-zag details show face on the midsole units, and the bottoms round everything out with a gum finish.
“I’m insanely grateful to be a part of the Three Stripes family. I never thought I’d get the opportunity to work with adidas,” says Jamal Smith. “The Adimatic launch makes me feel a mixture of emotions—I’m extremely appreciative and dumbfounded. It means the world to me, for real. I already had the colorway and idea in my head for years. Definitely going to be skating this model for a minute and I hope the rest of the world enjoys it, too.”
In other news, the adidas YEEZY 450 “Sulfur” has been officially revealed.
