Here's What Went Down at Spotify’s RapCaviar Event for ‘I KNOW NIGO’ Release
A star-studded affair that brought the visual world of NIGO’s album to life.
Taking place at a mansion in Los Angeles, Spotify‘s RapCaviar hosted an intimate event where NIGO and his closest friends celebrated the release of I KNOW NIGO. Guests were treated to performances by Pusha T and appearances from longtime NIGO collaborator Pharrell along with the next generation of voices at the intersection of hip-hop and style.
As friends and fans of NIGO gathered around a pool filled with NIGO-inspired duck art, they were surrounded by other design features that brought the album’s visuals to life. Looking above the DJ booth, fans could spot flying ducks, wearing gold chains and crowns or play classic outdoor games with an I KNOW NIGO-themed touch on the grounds. The crowd came alive when NIGO suddenly appeared for a surprise set, which is reminiscent of his early days as the DJ for Teriyaki Boyz. To top off the musical performances, Pharrell also sang “Beautiful” to the crowd in a yellow adidas x Humanrace hoodie.
At the classic Hollywood-inspired photo moment, fans caught rising hip-hop stars like Smino and 24kGoldn, who were documenting their impressive outfits. Playing tribute to NIGO’s legacy in designing stylish artist merchandise, the I KNOW NIGO event also offered branded frisbees, ping pong balls and RapCaviar’s exclusive crewneck collaboration with Nigo for guests to take home. Providing fans with an intimate look at the culture that surrounds his latest album, every detail of the party, down to the drink menu, was tailored for the latest expression of NIGO’s ever-evolving style.
After a 20-year hiatus, NIGO’s highly anticipated return to the music industry called for a reunion of creatives across the worlds of streetwear, music and art. “This project has been a long time coming, and a true dream come true, bringing together some of my closest friends on the album,” says Nigo. As everyone explored the outdoor space and left handwritten messages on Polaroid photos in a guest book, they also enjoyed catering from Ghetto Gastro with their Wavy waffle mix and fried chicken.
