New ‘Shaman King’ Anime Has Been Green-Lit for a Sequel
Building on the reboot of the original 2001 series.
The television anime of Hiroyuki Takei’s Shaman King manga, a reboot of the 2001 series of the same name, will be receiving a sequel. The series, which aired for one year starting in April 2021, adapted all 35 volumes of the new complete manga edition and wrapped up the run with 52 episodes.
A brief teaser gives fans a look into what’s to come in the Shaman King sequel, showing Hana, the son of Anna and Yoh.
Accompanying promotional visuals show the lineup of characters at present and seven years in the future, teasing that the sequel will be set sometime in the future.
Shaman King is directed by Joji Furuta and produced by the Tokyo-based studio Bridge. The anime brings together scripts by Shoji Yonemura, character design from Satohiko Sano and music composed by Yuki Hayashi. It also features several returning characters from the original 2001 series.
