Jorge Masvidal Has Been Arrested for His Alleged Attack on Colby Covington
He could face up to 15 years in prison.
Jorge Masvidal has been arrested for his alleged attack on Colby Covington. The two previous-best-friends-turned-enemies and past training partners at American Top Team — Covington later moved MMA masters — addressed their beef on March 6 at UFC 272, where Covington won in emphatic fashion.
There was a lot of bad blood going into the fight as well as after the match as Colby Covington’s heel antics insulted a lot of personal areas in Masvidal’s life, including his family. Promising to take the fight to the streets if they were to run into each other outside of the cage, Masvidal took it a step further by waiting for Covington outside of a restaurant in Miami where he fractured Covington’s tooth after punching him once in the eye and in the mouth.
Masvidal was eventually arrested less than 48 hours after the incident on Wednesday night. He reportedly damaged Covington’s $90,000 USD Rolex watch that will require $15,000 USD in servicing and was charged with one count of aggravated battery and one count of criminal mischief. Currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami on a $15,000 USD bond, if he’s found guilty, he could face 15 years of jail time.
